Push towards 6G at the 2021 Joint EuCNC & 6G Summit

The 2021 Joint EuCNC & 6G Summit is now officially over, and it was a great success! The four days of the extensive program attracted over 2,300 participants.

Despite the pandemic, this edition kept the traditional spirit of the European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC), which this year celebrated its 30th anniversary. The event made excellent use of a virtual platform and hosted a large number of dedicated workshops and special sessions generating excellent discussions.

The third 6G Summit held in conjunction with the EuCNC provided a versatile view not only on visions of 6G technology but also on the views of vertical businesses requirements and use cases emphasizing also the United Nations sustainable development goals.

“We witnessed a strong push in EU research towards 6G as the combining of 6G Summit with EuCNC with the initiative coming from European Commission proves,” says Prof. Ari Pouttu from the University of Oulu, TPC Co-chair of the event.

The event featured a comprehensive set of presentations by industry, academics, and regulators. “Two messages from regulators were clear,” notes Dr. Marja Matinmikko-Blue, 6G Flagship Research Coordinator and Track Co-Chair at the event.  “First, we all should change the way we think about spectrum to promote spectrum sharing, and second, input based on the real world needs of verticals is urgently required to build the 6G vision.”

The Virtual Conference Platform will be available until July 11, 2021 with all contents, including all Plenary and Parallel sessions and Booth contents.
