6G Flagship researchers win EURASIP Best Paper Award 2025

Researchers from the University of Oulu’s 6G Flagship have received the 2025 EURASIP Best Paper Award. The recognition was granted to Joonas Kokkoniemi, Janne Lehtomäki and Markku Juntti for their article “A line-of-sight channel model for the 100–450 gigahertz frequency band”, published in the EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking in 2021.

The study offers a detailed channel model for extremely high frequencies, which are seen as key candidates for future wireless systems beyond 5G. Accurate channel models are essential for designing and testing reliable communication technologies operating in these ranges.

The award is presented annually by the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) to recognise outstanding contributions in the field. The 2025 awards are listed in the EURASIP Newsletter, May 2025.
