Biography of

Nhan Nguyen

Nhan Nguyen is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu (CWC-UOULU), Finland. He received the B.S. degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam, in 2014, and the M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical and information engineering from Seoul National University of Science and Technology, South Korea, in 2017 and 2020, respectively. From October 2019 to March 2020, he was a Visiting Researcher at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA. From 2020 to 2023, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at CWC-UOULU, during which he also conducted research visits to Ben-Gurion University and the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel (2022), and the University of California, Irvine, USA (2023).

Nguyen’s research interests include signal processing, optimisation, and machine learning for wireless communications and sensing. He has been recognised with several honours, including the Samsung Talent Grant (2014), Best M.S. Thesis Award (2017), and Best Ph.D. Dissertation Award (2020), Best Paper Awards at IEEE SPAWC (2023), the IEEE SSP (2023), and ATC (2021). He is also a recipient of the Nokia Foundation’s Jorma Ollila Postdoctoral Grant (2022) and the Research Council of Finland Fellowship (2023). In 2023, Nguyen was conferred the Title of Docent by the University of Oulu for his contributions to signal processing algorithm designs for wireless systems. Nguyen is serving as an Associate Editor of IEEE Communications Letter.
