Biography of

Erkki Harjula

Dr. Erkki Harjula is a full-time assistant professor (tenure track) in the Centre for Wireless Communications – Networks and Systems (CWC-NS) research group. He focuses on wireless system level architectures for future digital healthcare, where his key research topics are wrapped around intelligent trustworthy distributed IoT and edge computing. He completed a D.Sc. degree in 2016, and a M.Sc. degree in 2007. Previously he has worked as a postdoctoral researcher and project manager at CWC-NS (2016-2020), and a research scientist / project manager for Center for Internet Excellence (CIE) (2013-2015), and for MediaTeam (2000-2014) research groups. He visited Columbia University in 2008-2009. Dr. Harjula has background in the interface between computer science and wireless communications: mobile and IoT networks, distributed networks, cloud computing and green computing. He has also a long history of preparing, managing and coordinating research projects, since 2006.
