Abstract
Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) is expected to become a fundamental capability of future wireless networks, enabling high-capacity communication and environmental awareness within a unified system.
Designing beamforming and waveforms for large-scale, high-frequency ISAC systems remains challenging due to joint sensing–communication objectives, hardware constraints on analogue beamformers and the overhead associated with beam training.
The talk introduces two efficient machine learning techniques for ISAC beamforming:
- Model-based deep unfolding
- Multimodal sensing with knowledge distillation
These approaches aim to reduce complexity while maintaining performance in practical next-generation wireless systems.
