6G-WISECOM

Development of Wireless Technology for Integrated Sensing and Communication

6G-WISECOM is an international research collaboration between Finland and Korea, driving the development of novel technologies for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) in future wireless networks. The project unites leading academic and industry partners to pioneer innovative solutions that enhance network efficiency, awareness, and enable new applications for smart industries, autonomous systems, and beyond.

Funded by Business Finland in Finland and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP) in Korea, 6G-WISECOM serves as a hub for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and technological breakthroughs between the University of Oulu and key Korean institutions, including the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Dankook University (DKU). By leveraging expertise from both nations, the project aims to shape the foundation of 6G wireless networks.


News

6G-WISECOM participated in the Joint Workshop on Multi-Disciplinary Approaches to Joint Communication and Sensing in 6G at the IEEE JC&S Symposium (January 27–29, 2025). The event brought together experts to discuss the latest technical, business, and regulatory challenges shaping the future of 6G networks.

The workshop provided a platform for sharing insights from leading research projects, including EU SNS 6G-MUSICAL, Business Finland 6G-WISECOM, and EU CONVERGE. It featured invited talks from these projects, offering diverse perspectives on advancements in Integrated Sensing and Communication. The event welcomed a broad audience of researchers and industry professionals, fostering a rich dialogue across sectors and expertise areas.

6G-WISECOM had a successful kickoff meeting on January 27 and 28, 2025, during the IEEE JC&S Symposium. The project welcomed participants from the University of Oulu and its Korean partners: the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Dankook University. In addition to the official project partners, we were honored to welcome guests from Hanyang University and the Korean Company Society.

This meeting laid the foundation for impactful collaboration on novel technologies for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), strengthening the partnership between Finland and Korea.
