SUMMARY:Art of Innovation | Lumo Art & Tech
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday 19 November 2026\, 6G Flagship brings its research to Oulu’s Tarkastamo as part of the Lumo Art & Tech festival’s Art of Innovation day. Two morning keynotes on the main stage cover where 6G research is heading and what happens when AI moves into the physical world. In the demo area\, three 6G Flagship research demonstrations run all day: light-based wireless communication\, connected robots\, and AI that predicts train delays from Finnish winter weather. Admission is free. \n \nKeynotes on the main stage\nPart of Lumo Talks – Art of Innovation. Times are confirmed by Oulu2026 closer to the festival. \n\n\n\n \n\nKeynote \nAri Pouttu \nDirector\, 6G Flagship\, University of Oulu \n\n\n6G \nWhere the sixth generation of wireless stands today\, what Oulu’s research community has built\, and what the next decade is likely to bring. \n\n\n\n \n\nKeynote \nMiguel Bordallo López \nProfessor of Vision Systems Engineering\, University of Oulu \n\n\nWhen AI Gets Physical \nHow to bring AI to the physical world and the physical world into AI. \n\n\n \nResearch demonstrations\nOpen 10.00 – 19.00 in the demo area. Come and talk to the researchers. \n\n\nDemo 1 · Thu 19 Nov \nConnected Robots and the Future of 6G \nRobots are moving into industry\, logistics\, healthcare\, and everyday environments\, and they need reliable connections to coordinate and work alongside people. See how emerging 6G technologies link robots\, sensors\, and digital services into one adaptive system. \nTuomo Hänninen\, Kenichi Komatsu · Supported by 6G Flagship and the University of Oulu. \n\n\nDemo 2 · Thu 19 and Fri 20 Nov \nMore Than Light \nLight is becoming a platform for communication\, sensing\, and energy transfer. A series of live demonstrations shows how future lighting can connect devices\, support sustainable IoT\, wirelessly power tiny implants\, and create environments that respond to the world around them. Stays open on Friday for the festival’s light seminar day. \nMarcos Katz · Supported by 6G Flagship\, EU SNS SUPERIOT\, Business Finland WiseCom\, and Infotech Oulu. \n\n\nDemo 3 · Thu 19 Nov \nCan AI Beat the Finnish Winter? \nHeavy snow\, minus twenty\, and the train is late again. This model learned from about 38 million railway records and roughly 200 Finnish Meteorological Institute weather stations to estimate delays across Finland. Explore the rail network on an interactive map and find out which weather hits the trains hardest. \nNurul Mahmood · Part of the ENSURE-6G project and 6G Flagship. \n\n\nThe event is part of the University of Oulu’s 2026 cultural programme and the Lumo Art & Tech Festival programme. \n \n\nSee the full festival programme at Oulu2026. \nFind us at other events on our event calendar.
